Let’s dive into the details of how this card came together!
This fun card features a pair of seagulls from the Friendly Seagulls stamp set. The seagulls are stamped and colored with a combination of soft and bold colors, bringing them to life as they stand on a wooden post with a funny “OMG! OMG! OMG!” sentiment from the Day to Celebrate stamp set. The seagulls’ expressive poses and the bold, playful sentiment immediately set the tone for a fun card that’s sure to bring a smile to anyone who receives it.
The background is created using the Soft Waves 3D Embossing Folder, which gives a dynamic texture to the card that reminds you of the ocean breeze—perfect for this beachy design. To ground the seagulls, I used some torn cardstock to represent sand, creating a dimensional look. The seagulls are perched on the log, and the colors of the sand and background give a layered, realistic feel.
I added a pop of color with the coordinating Coastal Cabana cardstock and a few enamel dots to give the card a clean, finished look. The red sentiment banner stands out, making the “OMG!” statement the focus of the design. This card is bold, fun, and sure to be a hit with anyone who loves a good laugh!
When using textured embossing folders like the Soft Waves 3D Embossing Folder, pair it with simple stamped images to allow the background texture to shine. This balances the design and adds depth without overpowering the main images. Also, adding torn cardstock for the sand and water gives the card more dimension and a more realistic look.
