Popcorn Pocket Surprise! A Gift Card Holder with the Poppin’ By Bundle

Today I’m poppin’ in with something extra fun – a handmade gift card holder that’s shaped like a classic popcorn box! I used the Poppin’ By bundle (of course!) along with a few of my favorite dies to turn this playful design into the perfect little surprise for birthdays, movie nights, or just-because treats.

The base of this project is crafted to look like a striped popcorn container – complete with Real Red and Basic White panels that give it that bold, vintage feel. I added a wavy edge across the top using the Fancy Borders dies to give it a finished look.

At the top, die-cut popcorn pieces (in various shades of yellow) peek out – but here’s the twist: when you pull the popcorn up, it reveals a hidden space for a gift card! Such a fun interactive element that’s sure to wow the recipient.

On the front, I used the Perennial Postage dies to create a faux ticket and layered it with a stitched circle from Unbounded Love. The sentiment “Enjoy” from the Poppin’ By bundle fits just perfectly in that little circle! A couple of enamel dots at the bottom add just the right pop of dimension.

For interactive gift card holders, be sure to use a strong and skinny adhesive like Multipurpose Liquid Glue to secure the pocket – especially if you’ll be sliding the gift card in and out. Want your pull-out element to slide smoothly? Add a small thumb notch or use a punch for easy access!
