ALL ABOUT STAMPIN’ BLENDS AND STAMPIN’ WRITE MARKERS
Stampin’ Up! has a lot of great tools to color in your stamped images, but my favorite way to color is with Markers! There are two types of Markers: Stampin’ Blends and Stampin’ Write Markers. We’re going to talk about both of them in this blog post.
I’ve linked a YouTube video a little further down on this post. Make sure to check it out!
In the video, I share all about both types of Markers, how to use them, and I also make a card with you – showing four different ways to color your stamped image! The card we make can be seen below.
Here’s the coloring we did on this card:
- Largest Flower: Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends
- Smaller Flowers: Petal Pink Stampin’ Write Markers
- Big Leaf: Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Write Marker direct to stamp
- Smaller Leaves: Ink Pad
ALL ABOUT MARKERS & COLORING:
STAMPIN’ BLENDS: Stampin’ Up! offers Stampin’ Blends in loads of colors, and of course, they coordinate perfectly with the Ink Pads, Cardstock, Embellishments, etc. When you purchase Stampin’ Blends, you actually get two markers per color – in both a Light and a Dark Marker. These are Alcohol Based Markers and should be used with a Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad.
STAMPIN’ WRITE MARKERS: These come in every Stampin’ Up! color and are sold by Color Family. Like the Stampin’ Blends, these coordinate perfectly with other products as well. These are Water Based Markers and you can actually color them directly on a stamp to get a neat look.
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE TWO? Below are some differences between the two Marker types:
STAMPIN’ BLENDS | STAMPIN’ WRITE MARKERS | |
BASE | Alcohol Based Marker (use with Tuxedo Black Memento ink) | Water Based Marker |
COLORING | Use the Dark and Light Markers together to give a Blended look (lines don’t overlap) | Marker colors true to the color. Gives one tone. |
WHEN TO USE | – Color in stamped images – Color Embellishments, Ribbon, and more to give them a new look | – Color in stamped images – Use in place of Ink Pads to color your stamps |
