Freebie Friday: Spooky Halloween Card

Who says Christmas dies have to be used just for Christmas?! Today I’m sharing a fun Halloween card that combines a few different Stampin’ Up! products, including the Welcome Noel dies and Oh My Fright dies. I love finding ways to stretch my crafting supplies, and this card is a perfect example of how a few Christmas houses can turn into a spooky little Halloween neighborhood!

Handmade Halloween card featuring black die cut houses, trees, and bats layered over vellum and gray patterned paper, with a white embossed Happy Halloween sentiment.

I started with a Basic Black card base and added a panel of Frightfully Fun Designer Series Paper. The spooky trees in the background are such a fun detail! To create the scene, I used the Welcome Noel dies to cut two rows of trees from Basic Black cardstock. I adhered them to a piece of vellum, which softens the background and gives everything a slightly foggy appearance. Perfect for Halloween!

The houses are also from the Welcome Noel dies! I cut two detailed houses from two tone Basic Black cardstock and layered them over solid houses cut from Very Vanilla cardstock. I love how the Very Vanilla shows through the windows, making the houses look like they’re glowing in the dark. I added three Basic Black bats cut with the Oh My Fright dies to complete the spooky scene.

For the finishing touches, I tied a bow with black baker’s twine and added a Halloween greeting from the Soiree Salutations stamp set. The sentiment is heat embossed with white embossing powder onto a Basic Black label cut with the Noel Tidings dies. I popped the label up with Dimensionals right over the bow.

I just love how this card came together! It’s a little spooky, a little elegant, and a great reminder that our crafting supplies can be used for so much more than their original theme.

Don’t limit your dies to the holiday or occasion they were designed for! Houses, trees, circles, and labels can easily work for different seasons just by changing the colors and surrounding details. Those Christmas houses look right at home on a Halloween card when paired with black cardstock and a few bats!
