I Messed Up! Easter Card using Springtime Joy from Stampin’ Up!

You’ve read the subject line, and I know what you’re thinking… you messed up? Where? Sometimes it’s hard to fix mistakes when you’re crafting, but it’s definitely not impossible. See the card above? The layer with the chopped up paper is one of my original prototypes for my Easter class that I offered a few weeks back. My first thought was to start over and not use that piece. But then… I knew I could turn it into a beautiful card!

This is what that layer looked like underneath… not very pretty, right? But, it sure was a great learning experience! Now when I teach this paper cutting method, I encourage crafters to start from the outside and work their way in. The other tip? Don’t cut too many pieces, there just won’t be enough space for margins if you do! Using the largest scalloped rectangle die from the Stitched So Sweetly dies, I was able to cover up most of my mistake, and still have a beautiful card!

See what I mean? Not too shabby, right? And you probably wouldn’t have noticed the mistake if I hadn’t shown you a picture of it! Next time you make a mistake when crafting, don’t throw that piece out. Instead, embrace that mistake and know that your handmade masterpiece will be appreciated anyway. And then give that card away! I promise you – it will raise your confidence in yourself!
