Freebie Friday: Oh My Fright Fun Fold Halloween Card

Halloween cards are just more fun when there’s a little surprise involved! This Oh My Fright fun fold Halloween card looks cute when it’s closed, but open it up and you get to see the full fold along with even more of that Frightfully Fun Designer Series Paper. And really, that happy little ghost is pretty hard to resist!

Basic Black Oh My Fright fun fold Halloween card featuring Frightfully Fun DSP, an orange Boo to You sentiment and a white ghost.

I started with a Basic Black card base and created the fun fold so the two decorated panels overlap when the card is closed. I love how this layout gives you a chance to show off two different patterns from the Frightfully Fun DSP without making the card feel too busy.

For the left panel, I layered the starry Frightfully Fun DSP onto Smoky Slate cardstock and adhered it only to the left side of the first panel. On the right, I layered the ghost pattern onto another piece of Smoky Slate and adhered it only to the right side of the last panel. When the card is closed, those two pieces come together to create the front of the card.

The “Boo to You” sentiment from the Oh My Fright bundle is stamped in black ink onto a Timid Tiger circle punched with the 1-7/8″ Circle Punch. I stamped the little ghost, added just a bit of shading with Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends, and then die cut it before adding it next to the sentiment. A few black dots from the Ghosts, Bats and Dots embellishments finish off the front.

Inside, there’s plenty of room for a handwritten message, along with a Happy Halloween sentiment stamped in Timid Tiger. I especially like that you can still see both Frightfully Fun DSP panels when the card is completely open!

Fun folds are a great way to use Designer Series Paper with larger or busier patterns. Let the DSP do most of the decorating, then keep your focal point simple with one stamped image and a sentiment. You get a card that looks like you spent forever on it… without actually spending forever on it. 😉
