Freebie Friday: Oh My Fright Gatefold Fun Fold Halloween Card

Halloween crafting is officially here, and I couldn’t wait to create with some of the brand-new products that released on July 1! If you love fun folds and cute-not-spooky Halloween cards, this one is such a fun project to make. The bright Granny Apple Green paired with Basic Black really makes Frankenstein’s Monster’s face pop, and the gatefold design makes it a fun way to open!

A Basic Black gatefold Halloween card featuring a bright green Frankenstein face created with the Oh My Fright Bundle, Spooktacular Designer Series Paper, and a heat-embossed "Trick or Treat" sentiment.

I used the new Oh My Fright Bundle along with the Spooktacular 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper to let the patterned paper do most of the work. Two coordinating pieces of the DSP are matted onto Granny Apple Green cardstock before being adhered to each gatefold panel. The Frankenstein’s Monster image creates an adorable focal point, while the heat-embossed “Trick or Treat” sentiment on a Basic Black banner (die cut with the Stylish Shapes Dies) adds a crisp, polished finish.

Inside the card, I added a Basic White panel for writing a message. The “Happy Halloween” sentiment is stamped in black ink, and the spiderweb corners are stamped in Smoky Slate for just a touch of decoration without taking away from the space to write. To finish everything off, I added a few of the new Ghosts, Bats and Dots embellishments for the perfect playful Halloween accent.

When you’re working with bold patterned paper, keep the embellishments simple. Heat embossing a sentiment in white creates a high-contrast focal point that stands out beautifully without competing with the designer paper.
