Freebie Friday: Sweet Treat Box with the Silly Old Bear Suite

Who says happy mail has to be a card? Sometimes a little treat tucked inside a handmade box is the perfect way to brighten someone’s day! This sweet project holds a snack-size Milano cookie pack (affiliate link), making it a fun little gift for a friend, coworker, or anyone who deserves a surprise.

A Hydrangea Hue handmade treat box featuring Eeyore, a honey pot, and a sentiment, with the box open to reveal a snack-size Milano cookie pack inside.

I created the box from Hydrangea Hue cardstock and decorated all four sides with coordinating patterns from the Silly Old Bear Designer Series Paper. The soft blue colors pair perfectly with Eeyore, making him the star of the project. The label was die cut from Barely Blush cardstock using the Sweet Words + Labels bundle, and I stamped the sentiment in black ink along the bottom.

Eeyore was stamped in black ink, colored with Hydrangea Hue and Barely Blush Blends, then die cut and popped up with Dimensionals. The little honey pot was die cut from Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock, while the honey was die cut from Golden Glow cardstock. For a fun finishing touch, I added a piece of clear packing tape over the honey before die cutting it to give it a glossy, realistic shine. The box closes with mini magnets, and a soft Barely Blush ribbon bow covers the front magnet while adding a pretty finishing detail. A few Iridescent Pearls complete the project.

Clear packing tape is an inexpensive way to create a glossy finish on die cut pieces like honey, water, or glass. It’s a quick trick that adds lots of dimension without needing specialty products.
