Freebie Friday: Welcome Noel Christmas Card with the Timeless Herringbone Embossing Folder

Welcome to my blog! Today I’m sharing a Christmas card featuring the Welcome Noel and Noel Tidings bundles from Stampin’ Up! I love a traditional Christmas color combination, and Cherry Cobbler is one of my favorites to reach for this time of year. Add a little texture, some pretty plaid paper, and a cozy Christmas house scene, and you’ve got a card that’s perfect for spreading a little holiday cheer!

Handmade Cherry Cobbler Christmas card featuring embossed herringbone texture, a plaid circle, stamped houses, pinecones, greenery, and a sending cheer sentiment.

I started with a Cherry Cobbler card base and added another layer of Cherry Cobbler cardstock embossed with the new Timeless Herringbone Embossing Folder. I love the texture this folder creates! It’s a great way to add some interest to a background without making it too busy. I also flicked some Wink of Stella onto the embossed layer for a little sparkle. It’s subtle, but so pretty when it catches the light!

Next, I die cut a circle from the A Little Christmas Designer Series Paper using the Stylish Shapes Dies. The plaid pattern brings in some softer greens and ties everything together with the Cherry Cobbler background.

For the focal point, I used the Welcome Noel and Noel Tidings bundles to create a little Christmas scene. I stamped the larger house in Crumb Cake ink and the smaller house in Early Espresso ink, both onto Basic White cardstock. I also stamped two pinecones in Pecan Pie and three sprigs in Peaceful Pine. After die cutting everything, I arranged the pieces around the houses to create a cozy little scene. The smaller house is popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals to add some depth.

The “sending cheer” sentiment is stamped in Early Espresso ink onto Basic White cardstock, die cut, and also adhered with Dimensionals. I finished the card with a few Gold Dots for just a little extra shine!

I love how the detailed herringbone background, plaid circle, and stamped images all work together. There’s plenty of texture and detail, but the card still has that classic Christmas look!

When you’re creating a card with several stamped and die cut pieces, try layering them at different heights! I adhered most of the pieces flat and used Dimensionals on the smaller house and sentiment. That little bit of dimension helps the focal point stand out without adding a lot of extra bulk.
