Holly Jolly Branches Christmas Card with Rustic Check Embossing

Five Christmas trees, a little texture, and a whole lot of festive fun! 🎄

Today’s Christmas card features the Holly Jolly Branches Bundle from Stampin’ Up!, and I went with a classic red and green color combination for this one! I love how the Cherry Cobbler background makes those Peaceful Pine trees stand out, and the scalloped frame adds such a fun finishing touch.

Plus, there’s a little “Fa La La” involved, and you really can’t go wrong with that at Christmas!

I started with a Cherry Cobbler card base and added another layer of Cherry Cobbler cardstock embossed with the Rustic Check 3D Embossing Folder. I love the texture this creates! Using the same color cardstock for the base and embossed layer keeps the background simple while still adding plenty of interest.

Next, I used the Scalloped Christmas Cheer Dies to die cut a large scalloped rectangle from Basic White cardstock. This creates the perfect background for my little forest of Christmas trees!

Using the Holly Jolly Branches Bundle, I die cut five trees from Peaceful Pine cardstock. To add a little variety, I stamped the dotted image onto two of the trees using Peaceful Pine ink. I love how this creates a subtle pattern without introducing another color! I arranged the trees at different heights and adhered two of them with Dimensionals for a little extra depth.

For the sentiment, I stamped “Fa La La” in Early Espresso ink onto a Crumb Cake banner die cut with the Stylish Shapes Dies. I added a Linen Thread bow behind the sentiment, then adhered the banner with Dimensionals.

And because every Christmas card could use a little something extra, I finished everything off with a few adorable Peppermint Embellishments!

Tone-on-tone stamping is such an easy way to add interest to your die cuts! By stamping Peaceful Pine ink onto Peaceful Pine cardstock, I was able to give a couple of the trees some extra detail while keeping the overall design simple. Try this technique with other shapes and colors, too!
