Safari Smiles Bundle Lion Family Card in Golden Glow

This card completely won me over the minute I finished coloring the lion family. There’s just something so sweet about the way they’re all cuddled together! I also love that this card showcases one of the beautiful new In Colors, Golden Glow. It’s such a warm, happy color and felt like the perfect choice for a safari-themed card.

This design was CASEd from Kisha Cook, and I had so much fun recreating it!

The card starts with a Golden Glow card base and a layer of coordinating Golden Glow Designer Series Paper. The tone-on-tone look keeps everything bright and cheerful while letting the focal image take center stage.

One of my favorite elements is the window frame. I cut a square of Basic White cardstock and die cut a circle from the center using the Stylish Shapes dies. Popping that layer up with Dimensionals creates instant depth and gives the lion family a special place to shine.

The lions are stamped in black ink on Basic White cardstock and colored with Golden Glow Blends along with the Deep Combo Pack Blends. I kept the coloring fairly simple and let the image do the work. The family scene is adorable all on its own!

To build the safari setting, I added two clouds die cut from Very Vanilla cardstock, three rocks in Gray Granite, and three grass pieces in Crumb Cake. These little details help frame the lions without distracting from them.

The sentiment is stamped in Early Espresso ink and punched with the Three Banner Punch. A few Earthy Matte Dots finish everything off and tie in perfectly with the natural color palette.

If you’re using a detailed focal image, try keeping the surrounding die cuts neutral. The rocks, grass, and clouds add interest to this card, but because they’re all soft neutral colors, your eye still goes right to the lion family.
