Simply Leaves Card with Pool Party and Pretty Peacock

I’m back with another card featuring the Simply Leaves Bundle from Stampin’ Up! This time I went in a completely different direction with the colors. Instead of the warm fall shades from my first card, I paired Pool Party with Old Olive, Crumb Cake and Pretty Peacock for a fresh color combination that works any time of year.

And that Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder in the background? It adds so much without making the card feel busy!

I started with a Pool Party card base and added another layer of Pool Party cardstock embossed with the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder. Using the same color for the card base and embossed layer keeps the background subtle while still adding lots of texture.

For the larger leaves, I stamped the Simply Leaves images in Old Olive and Crumb Cake ink onto Basic White cardstock and punched them out with the coordinating leaf punch. The smaller leaves were stamped in Pretty Peacock ink onto Basic White and fussy cut. I adhered those smaller leaves with Dimensionals to give the arrangement a little extra depth.

The sentiment is stamped in Early Espresso ink and also popped up with Dimensionals. A few Iridescent Pearls scattered around the leaves were the perfect finishing touch!

I really like how the Pretty Peacock pops against the softer Pool Party background. It’s a great example of how changing your color combination can give the Simply Leaves Bundle a completely different look.

Try embossing cardstock in the same color as your card base when you want to add interest without introducing another color or pattern. You get all that wonderful texture while keeping the overall design clean and coordinated.
