Splash + Relax Birthday Card with Beautiful Ordinary Life DSP

There’s something about bright summer colors and beach-themed images that instantly makes me smile! The Splash + Relax Bundle is packed with fun elements that are easy to mix and match, and today’s card features a row of colorful floaties that create a playful focal point.

Paired with the Beautiful Ordinary Life Designer Series Paper, this card is cheerful, fresh, and perfect for celebrating someone’s special day.

This card begins with a Pool Party card base layered with strips of Beautiful Ordinary Life Designer Series Paper across the top and bottom of the card front. The soft watercolor-style stripes add a fun summertime feel while bringing together all of the colors used throughout the design.

The focal panel is a layer of Basic White cardstock where the floaties are stamped directly onto the background. The left floatie combines Pool Party and Lost Lagoon inks, while the center floatie features Daffodil Delight stamped at both full strength and stamped-off for added depth. The floatie on the right uses Petal Pink and Flirty Flamingo for a soft yet vibrant color combination.

To add even more playful detail, I stamped and die cut two coordinating beach balls. One uses Pool Party and Lost Lagoon, while the second features Petal Pink and Flirty Flamingo. Layering these over the floaties helps create dimension and movement across the card.

The sentiment is stamped in black ink below the floaties, and a simple black Baker’s Twine bow adds a nice contrast against the soft pastel colors. To finish the card, I added clear dots from the Ladybug Garden Epoxy Shapes for a subtle touch of shine without distracting from the colorful focal images.

When working with multiple colors on one card, repeat each color at least twice throughout the design. This creates balance and helps your eye move naturally across the project.
