Thanks + Giving Acorn Card with Warm Fall Layers

I’m kicking off a new week of projects with the Thanks + Giving stamp set, and we’re starting with all the cozy fall colors! This card was CASEd from my friend and Inkredible Crafters team member Alicia Markfort. I loved her layout and the mix of patterns and textures, so I had to make my own version!

The Thanks + Giving stamp set is such a fun one for fall cards, especially when you want to let someone know how much you appreciate them! I’ll be sharing more ideas with this set throughout the week, so be sure to follow along and see what else I create with it.

I started with a Cajun Craze card base, which immediately gives this card that warm fall look. From there, I created two different panels and matted them onto Crumb Cake cardstock. The Basic White panel was embossed with the leaf pattern from the Seasonal Cheer Mini Embossing Folders, while the bottom panel features a pattern from the Radiant Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper.

To separate the two sections, I added a Pecan Pie scallop die cut from the Home For Christmas dies. I love that little scalloped detail peeking out between the layers! A Crumb Cake circle from the Spotlight on Nature dies creates the focal point in the center of the card.

Of course, the star of this Thanks + Giving card is that big acorn! I stamped it in Early Espresso ink, colored it with Crumb Cake and Deep Combo Pack Stampin’ Blends, and then fussy cut it. The sentiment was also stamped in Early Espresso ink and layered across the circle.

A Linen Thread bow and a few Glossy Garden Dots were the finishing touches. There’s quite a bit going on with this card between the embossing, Designer Series Paper, scalloped edge, and die cut circle, but the warm neutral colors help everything work together without feeling too busy.

When you’re mixing several patterns and textures on one card, try repeating a few colors throughout the design. Here, Crumb Cake and the warm brown tones help tie the embossed panel, patterned paper, acorn, and sentiment together.
