Web of Fun Spider Web Halloween Card

I have another Halloween card to share using the Web of Fun Bundle, and this one definitely brings on the spiders! I CASEd this card from Connie Babbert. There’s a lot going on, but keeping the color palette simple makes it all work together.

I started with a Basic Black card base and added a striped pattern from the Spooktacular Designer Series Paper. The black and orange stripes make a great Halloween background! I added a piece of vellum over the DSP to soften the pattern a bit and give the die cuts on top a place to stand out.

The large spider web from the Web of Fun Bundle is die cut from Basic Black cardstock, and I added three Basic Gray spiders around the web. Before adhering the spiders, I blended some Basic Gray ink onto the cardstock to give them a little extra shading and texture. It’s a really simple detail, but it keeps the spiders from looking flat.

The sentiment label is also die cut with the Web of Fun Bundle, and “Very Spooky” is stamped in Pumpkin Pie ink. I added a small bow tied with black Baker’s Twine and finished the card with black dots from the Bats, Ghosts and Dots embellishments.

Vellum is a great way to tone down a busy Designer Series Paper without completely covering it up. You still get all that fun pattern and color in the background, but your focal point has a chance to shine!
