Christmas Crew Bear Card with Holly Jolly Wishes

I’m back with another card featuring the Christmas Crew Bundle, and this time our little bear is getting into the Christmas spirit! I had fun piling on the traditional Christmas details with Cherry Cobbler, holly, snowflakes and even a few tiny peppermints.

There’s quite a bit happening on this card, but keeping the color palette fairly simple helps everything work together without feeling too busy.

Handmade Cherry Cobbler Christmas card featuring a bear dressed as Santa with a white beard, Pool Party scalloped rectangle, holly and peppermint embellishments.

I started with a Cherry Cobbler card base and added another layer of Cherry Cobbler that I embossed with the Dreamy Snowflakes Hybrid Embossing Folder. I love using the same color cardstock for the card base and embossed layer—it gives you plenty of texture without introducing another color.

Next, I added a piece of Creative Celebrations Mix + Match Designer Series Paper matted onto Basic White. The red pattern fits right in with the Christmas colors while the thin white border helps it stand out against all that Cherry Cobbler.

For the focal point, I die cut Pool Party cardstock with the Scalloped Christmas Cheer Dies. Before adding the bear, I stamped the snowfall image near the top in Pool Party ink. It’s subtle, but it adds just a little something to the background behind him.

The bear, sentiment and Santa hat from the Christmas Crew Bundle were stamped in black ink onto Basic White cardstock. I colored everything with Pecan Pie, Deep Combo and Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends, along with a little Pool Party for shading. And I couldn’t resist dressing him up a little more! I die cut the beard and mustache from Basic White and added them to the bear. He makes a pretty cute Santa, don’t you think?

To finish the focal point, I die cut holly leaves from Peaceful Pine cardstock and berries from Real Red and tucked them into the upper corner. A few Peppermint Embellishments scattered around the card add one last playful Christmas detail.

When you’re using a strong color like Cherry Cobbler, try embossing a layer of the same color cardstock. You’ll get lots of texture and detail while still creating a background that lets your main focal point stand out.
