Christmas Crew Reindeer Christmas Card with Candy Cane Details

I’m kicking off a week of Christmas card inspiration with the Christmas Crew Bundle! This set has such cute characters, and I love all the little pieces you can mix and match to create fun holiday scenes.

For my first card this week, I CASEd a card from Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team Member Julia Maser. I loved her layout and all of the layers and texture she worked into the design, so I had to give it a try!

I started with a Thick Basic White card base and kept most of the background white so all of those bright Christmas details could really stand out. On the smaller Basic White layer, I used the candy cane pattern from the Seasonal Cheer Mini Embossing Folder Pack. Since these are mini embossing folders, I ran it across the panel at an angle rather than trying to emboss the entire piece. I really like the partial embossed look it created!

I added a little extra interest by flicking some color from a Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blend over the embossed panel. It’s a small detail, but it helps break up all that white while still keeping the background nice and clean.

For the focal point, I die cut a Basic White square using the Tile Garden Dies. I cut another square the same size from the A Stitched Season Designer Series Paper, tore it diagonally, and layered it over the white square. That little pop of bright red is so good behind the reindeer! The entire square is popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The reindeer, sentiment sign and Santa hat are all from the Christmas Crew Bundle. I stamped them in black ink and colored them with Cherry Cobbler, Pecan Pie and Deep Combo Pack Stampin’ Blends, adding just a touch of Pool Party for some soft shading. Of course, that Santa hat needed a little sparkle, so I added Wink of Stella!

And then there are the candy canes! I stamped five of them, colored them with Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends and tucked them around the reindeer. I finished the card with a Linen Thread bow and a few Pool Party Painted Patch Dots.

There are quite a few little details on this card, but none of them are complicated. Put them all together, though, and you get such a fun Christmas card!

Mini embossing folders don’t have to cover your entire cardstock layer! Try turning one at an angle and embossing just a portion of your background. It’s an easy way to add texture exactly where you want it and gives you another way to use those smaller folders.
